any idea about some reasonable accomodation in Munich for the gig? Either a better hostel or a cheaper hotel - about anything with a private bathroom below 40 euros/person/night would do. I can't find anything because of Oktoberfest - everything seems to be vastly overpriced or already full... It would be either for 1 or 2 persons, 1 or 2 nights. (Depends on what kind of accomodation I find in Switzerland and whether anybody will travel with me).

Uuuuh, sorry Mister - I realy think that's a Mission Impossible. Oktoberfest is where the money is. The cheapest hotel I could find now starts at 60 Euros...

Here is a list of pensions in Munich:

But they don't have an online-booking system. So You have to look at each website linked there, to find out the phonenumbers and then call them up to ask (if they don't offer e-mail addresses). But to be honest - I don't think You have a real chance now.

I think You now have only two chances:
1. Be willing to spend more for the night.
2. Don't stay in or near Munich
I did a search in a radius of 50 km around Munich:

Maybe You can find one, that's okay for You and not too far off Your route. But in any way - don't delay! It can only get worse...

Unfortunately The Spick is right.

The whole city is in a state of emergency during every day of the Oktoberfest. Hotel rooms are rare and you have to pay additional charges in the most of them. I was living in Munich for a little more than a year and survived two Oktoberfests. Even going out in the evening is not fun at all ...

The Spick - the link actually did help, I managed to find a guesthouse only 15km north from Munich (which is on my trip to Mannheim the next day anyway) for only about 22 euros pp. I'm happy now, thanks
