KERRY ELLIS and BRIAN MAY will perform ANTHEMS: The Concert, live at the Royal Albert Hall, London on Sunday May 1, 2011 at 8.00pm for the benefit of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

Queen legend Brian May and West End and Broadway singing sensation Kerry Ellis are to perform the live version of their hit album, ANTHEMS, in a special Royal Albert Hall concert next Spring on the May Bank Holiday Sunday after the Royal Wedding.

ANTHEMS: The Concert, scheduled for Sunday May 1, 2011, will present BRIAN MAY and KERRY ELLIS in concert accompanied by the City of London Philharmonic, The Anthems Ensemble, The West End Chorus and Dancers making this a truly spectacular one-off event.

The Queen guitarist and composer Brian May will perform new arrangements of a selection of the favourite songs he has specially chosen to be performed by Kerry. He will accompany her on guitar and vocals.

ANTHEMS: The Concert follows a series of acclaimed performances together: Kerry and Brian stole the show when they performed together at the Royal Variety Show in 2008, they performed live together again at the BBC Proms in the Park and at this year’s The Night of 1000 Voices, and most recently opened the Remembrance Day concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

Brian May says: “From the moment I first heard Kerry sing, I was entranced, and felt the conviction that I would one day make an album with her. The conviction never left me. The hard thing was to find the right medium to harness that amazing voice – the material and arrangements had to be worthy, and a musical style evolved to capture her unique magic.

ANTHEMS: The Concert will show what we’ve created together, a style that defines a new form of music – a kind of Anthemic-Orchestral-Rock-Musical-Theatre Fusion.”
Broadway and London leading man ADAM PASCAL will support Brian and Kerry in a programme which will also include songs from RENT, WICKED, CHESS, HAIRSPRAY, THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW and the Elton John / Tim Rice Broadway musical, AIDA.

ANTHEMS: The Concert will be produced and directed by Hugh Wooldridge who has presented THE NIGHT OF 1000 VOICES at the Royal Albert Hall on the May Bank Holiday Sundays over the past eleven years (with the exception of 2008 when he presented with Tim Rice the phenomenally successful CHESS IN CONCERT). Wooldridge says ‘It’s a great pleasure to work with these huge talents whilst raising funds for a truly deserving charity’.

LEUKAEMIA & LYMPHOMA RESEARCH is the UK’s leading blood cancers charity. It is dedicated to saving lives through research into better treatments and cures for leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. The charity receives no government funding and relies entirely on people coming together to fundraise. Cathy Gilman, Chief Executive, says: "Since 1960, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research has invested in world-class research and survival rates have increased dramatically for patients with leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.”

Postet Brian in der Soapbox, darf dann wohl hier gepostet werden...

GRade auch schwer am Überlegen mir das zu gönnen. Wäre natürlich wünschenswert zu wissen wie lange die zwei da performen werden. Nur wegen 4-5 Songs wäre mir das bisschen zu aufwendig-wenn die ganze Scheibe gespielt würde und vielleicht noch Queen Songs dann wäre es ne Überlegung wert. Tix sind ja schon viele weg!

Ich glaube, dass kann man schon erwarten es von Dauer ein normales Konzert werden wird. Vorverkauf läuft angesichts der schlechten Albumverkäufe doch recht gut. Nett wäre es natürlich, wenn es von Brian selbst 2-3 Songs geben würde (z.B. Too much love will kill you).

Das einzige was mich derzeiot noch abhalten würde war in dem text die Passage:

Support will come from Broadway and West End leading man Adam Pascal in a programme which will also include songs from Rent, Wicked, Chess, Hairspray, The Rocky Horror Show and the Elton John / Tim Rice Broadway musical, Aida. Adam Pascal is best known to UK audiences for creating the role of Roger Davis in the Broadway production of Rent. He has already appeared at the Royal Albert Hall, playing The American in the Tim Rice, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus musical Chess and in 2010 was one of the stars in The Night of 1000 Voices.

Nicht dass das dann Ellis/May übertünchen wird-denn das ist nicht ganz so meine musikalische Richtung. Andererseits Brian mal wieder in einem anderen Kontext als QPR zusehen hätte schon seinen Reiz.

Hast Du schon Dein Ticket ? Im unteren Bereich sind sie ja fast alle weg. Geil sind auf der RAH-Seite die Vor-Ansichten der Plätze wo man den Blick auf die Bühne testn kann. SUper gemacht!

...auch auf die angekündigten Möglichkeiten für neue Soli - innerhalb der Konzerte...

Heute vormittag gab's über Twitter nen Link für eine zusätzlich angesetze Matinee-Show am 01.05. in der Royal Albert Hall (16 Uhr). Scheint da jetzt ein paar Probleme zu geben, da läßt sich zur Zeit nix mehr buchen - so schnell ausverkauft kann nicht sein. Die normale Suche über die RAH-Seite gibt nur den 20 Uhr Termin her.
