Natalia Posnova
Natalia Posnova, the magnificent concert pianist, composer and arranger transforms notorious rock pieces into virtuoso piano compositions for concert halls whispering with sophisticated music connoisseurs. The potent combination of her special affinity for the music of Rachmaninoff, the influences of her mother's love of classical music and her father's obsession with rock'n roll has crescendoed into Natalia's unique ability to create transcendent interpretations of both classical and contemporary music, making her the exceptional classical crossover artist.
As a child in St. Petersburg, Natalia attended the Music Lyceum at the Rimsky-Korsakoff Conservatory under the watchful eyes of eminent piano pedagogue Asya Rubina. Upon entering the Conservatory, Natalia studied with renowned Professor Leonid Sinstev. It was there Natalia presented a breathtaking first-prize competition performance of Rachmaninoff's 3rd Piano Concerto so phenomenal it compelled distinguished Professor Arkádi Zenziper to invite her to continue postgraduate studies under his direction at the Hochshule für Musik in Dresden, Germany. It is here where Natalia now holds the title of docent.
In addition to diplomas and accolades, Natalia has also achieved high distinction at international competitions, taking prizes in Barcelona (Maria Canals International Piano Competition), Palermo (SEILER International Piano Competition), Lleida (Ricardo Vines International Piano Competition), Ibla (IBLA Grand Prize) and others. She has made her name with piano concerts both at home and abroad collaborating with renowned international orchestras, including the Mecklenburg Staatskapelle, St. Petersburg Capella Symphonic Orchestra, Türingen Philharmonic, Zwickau Philharmonic, Dresden chamber Philharmonic Orchestra etc.
Peter Freestone, longtime assistant and confidant to Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury, was stunned after hearing Natalia's arrangement of “Who Wants to Live Forever”. Mr. Freestone was so impressed it was he who suggested over lunch in Prague she do more with Queen compositions.
Natalia's “Flash Fantasy” reached another ear, namely that of legendary Queen guitarist, Brian May. He was so astonished with Natalia's talent that he immediately posted his comments along with her video on his personal space (Soapbox) on his official website:
“I just 'discovered' Natalia Posnova. She is an amazing pianist and interpreter of songs. And I do not use this term lightly. This video clip is worth a million hits. I hope it gets them … I have seriously, in all these years, never seen or heard anything like this. To see this amount of beauty, talent, innovation and pure bravura in one shot is astounding. You all have to see her interpretation of FLASH. I think we all have to see her do this live some day, but for now … enjoy … and marvel !!” Brian May
