I am a visual artist and Queen fan living in London. For the past 9 months I have been working on documenting the life story of the Czech artist Irena Sedlecka who created the statue of Freddie Mercury. As you probably know, the statue was originally built in London by Irena 15 years ago, but rejected by the authorities here and generously received in Montreux. There, the exuberant rock star pose of Freddie, once struck at Wembley Stadium in front of thousands of people, now faces the calm waters of lake Geneva.

Freddie on the Plinth is a campaign to loan the statue for one year, bring it back to London and to place it on the 4th Plinth in Traflagar Square, a space reserved for contemporary art projects in one of the world's most visited locations, where hundreds of thousands of people would finally be able to see the statue the way it was planned and pay their tributes to Freddie. As with all masterpieces of art, it is common for them to occasionally travel on loan and it would be a great honor for Montreux to lend it as it finally would be for London to receive it.
